If you're feeding a crowd, this traditional Texas-style beef brisket recipe will produce a great piece of smoked meat. You will need eight to 10 hours to produce your masterpiece, but it is time well-spent.

The beer in the butt chicken recipe was developed by a couple of guys with too many beer cans and not enough pans. Now, it is recognized as one of the best ways to keep chicken moist and flavorful when grilled. But you can also use this technique in a smoker for smoked beer in the butt chicken.

Labor Day Special

Happy Labor Day weekend! I hope it’s filled with fun and relaxation for you and your family and I’d like to share some of our favorite recipes for this weekend. To start I’ll share my little brother’s favorite recipe from these three, Peach Hot Link Skewers. My brother Laith loves spicy food a lot. Like, a lot. So, even though he and I are pretty much the only ones who end up eating it I make a nice smokey and spicy peach glaze for the hot links and coat them before grilling and then reapply the glaze while it’s being grilled. This recipe calls for grilled fruit which, when I made it the first time, I was worried they wouldn’t be good, but I actually found that I really like grilled peaches and plums a lot. Plus, they go really well with our Hot Links, and I always like a good excuse to have more Hot Links! Oh, one last thought, this would still be really good without the heat. Switch the Hot Links out for our Jumbo Beef Franks and take out the cayenne pepper and the smoked paprika and you should get just the sweet of the glaze.

The second recipe is grilled kufta, it’s a classic in our house. The key is to use freshly picked parsley and try to remove as many stems as you can from the leaves. This is… tedious, to say the least but, anything worth doing is worth doing right so ugh, get pluckin’! Once that part is over, chop some green onions into bite sized pieces and then slice them up in a food processor. My mom helped me make this and she said, “Make you sure mention in the blog to only put parsley in the processor and then take it out and process the green onion by itself!” So. Do that. I think it’s because you want to make sure that green onion gets sliced into tiny pieces, and that can be hard because it gets very wet after being processed.

The final recipe is the Cowboy Baked Beans. This is a really simple baked beans recipe, but it’s probably one of my favorites of the bunch. Combine 2 cans of vegetarian baked beans with 2 cups of brown sugar and toss in some sliced campfire grillers. It’s smokey, it’s sweet, it’s easy, and you end up with baked beans in the end, so I call it a win! Whatever you do this weekend make sure that you enjoy your time with your family and make sure you relax. Cause, ya’know, that’s the whole point of this weekend!

No, not a pack of Twizzlers—real black licorice, which contains an active ingredient called glycyrrhizin. In a report published in 2002 in the American Journal of Epidemiology, Finnish researcher Timo E. Strandberg, PhD, surveyed over 1,000 Finnish women who&aposd just given birth and figured out how much glycyrrhizin they normally ate. (Apparently, Finns really like their licorice.) His study found that babies born to mothers who ate tons of licorice were born an average of two and a half days earlier than those born to mothers who did not eat as much licorice, and he definitively concluded that "heavy licorice (glycyrrhizin) consumption has been associated with shorter gestation." Strandberg theorized that this may be because glycyrrhizin interacts with cortisol levels, which are an important factor when it comes to when an expectant woman goes into labor. Or perhaps it speeds up labor by increasing the hormone prostaglandin. (So basically, even when science is involved, nobody has a clue.)

The Feel-Good Guide to Sports, Travel, Shopping & Entertainment

MAIN Home Life Holidays Labor Day

Traditionally, Labor Day serves as the unofficial end of summer - with families closing up summer houses and U.S. beaches packing it in for the season.

Flag waving mixes with the aroma of barbecue in many American backyards, as cities across the country mark the holiday with Labor Day parades, festivals & fireworks as well as last minute back to school shopping and major 2021 Labor Day sales at department stores and online..

Labor Day Party Ideas

This year, Labor Day falls on Monday, September 6, 2021.

But Labor Day is so much more than just barbecues, parades, and department store sales. For more than a century, it has honored all Americans who labor and work to support their families and communities each and everyday.

On September 5, 1882 in New York City the first Labor Day in the U.S. was celebrated as a "workingman's holiday" when (despite the threat of mass firings) workers united in a parade 10,000 strong down Broadway proudly led by Irish-American activist Peter MacGuire.

From New York, the idea spread across the country to honor workers every year since then. Congress finally passed official legislation in 1894 making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday.

However, it would take 23 more years for Congress to pass the Adamson Act establishing the 8-hour workday and 40-hour workweek we know today.

And, if there is only one reason to celebrate Labor Day, it is the fact that Americans no longer have to work the 12-hour day, 7-day work week schedule that was familiar to workers in the 19th century!
